Select Symi welcomes you to Symi. The beauty of the Dodecanese; home of the Three Graces.
The town of Symi, inhabited by around 25.000 people at the turn of the 19th century, is composed of a mixture of various architectural typologies found throughout the Aegean. Colorful structures juxtaposed in harmony with the amphitheatrical landscape create a unique whole.
Designed for the independent traveler, Symi retains an understated elegance. The harmonious architecture and peaceful surroundings create an enchanting backdrop for romancing or relaxing. The ambience is further enhanced by the friendly people, fine Mediterranean cuisine and a fascinating 3.500 year history.
The Upper Village or “Chorio”, is a showcase of Aegean Architecture. Among the 2.500 houses and stone paved streets are 14 wonderful churches. Chorio is full of charm and never fails to impress those who explore its narrow alleys.
Many delightful beaches and secluded coves are all around the island. Daily access by water taxis and caiques is available at the harbour.
In contrast to the rocky coast, the inner island is forested with cypress trees and offers great trekking experiences.
One the South coast of the island is located the Monastery of Panormitis, famed for its miracles and protector of the people of Symi.
